The countdown to the new 2022 has already started, which means that I and everyone at our WordPress Agency for Development are preparing to bid adieu to one of the most interesting and exciting years we’ve had throughout our professional practice.

So, the question is – how did 2021 go; was it successful? Well, let me tell you, you can bet it was truly amazing!

Yes, the world has definitely seen better days (of course, I’m referring to the global pandemic we’re still dealing with), but I’m so happy that one thing has remained constant, and that is the non-stop evolution of my favourite CMS – WordPress.

2021 was a big year for the web development world with so many new concepts beginning their inception and starting to re-shape the web as we know it. In this context, our WordPress development agency is glad to report that the Number 1 CMS in the world didn’t fall behind and continued to prove there are solid reasons that consolidate its stellar position.

With that being said, I thought that for my last blog post for this year, I will take you all on a journey through 2021, so we can see together what were the biggest events from the world of WordPress. Of course, I will also disclose some of the biggest achievements and plans that define the professional practice of the WordPress developers from Vipe Studio.

Without further ado, let’s say goodbye to the old year and fasten our seatbelts for what’s to come in 2022. I’m sure it will be nothing short of incredible!

2021: Wrapped up With a Bow

Like I already mentioned, 2021 was an amazingly successful year not only for our WordPress development company but for the web development world as a whole.

This is why, at the very end of this year, I would like for us all to take a look back and once again relive some of the most important WordPress moments that had a huge impact on our awesome community of WordPress developers and enthusiasts.

And since I happen to know a few of the best experts in our industry, I will share with you what makes the work of my friends from Vipe Studio so unique and worthy of recognition.

So, the first major thing that happened in 2021 was…

We Welcomed WordPress 5.8 “Tatum”

WordPress 5.8 “Tatum” was officially released in 2021, and it marked a brand new chapter for web publishing and WordPress website development.

The latest WordPress version is titled after American jazz pianist Art Tatum who is widely recognized as one of the best in his field.

One of the things that I and the WordPress developers from Vipe Studio loved the most about this major release was the fact that it gave administrators more control over their websites.

Another important update that WordPress 5.8 brought was Full Site Editing (FSE) which enables you to use the Block Editor to alter any element of your site. This was a very welcomed feature as it allows website owners to alter their designs without writing any code.

Our WordPress Agency for Development reminds you that Full Site Editing still has a long way to go, and we expect to see the feature in its full glory in the next updates, coming in 2022.

WordPress 5.8 also added an all-new Widgets screen and enhanced customizer. The Blocks as Widgets tool was created to complement Full Site Editing and allows users to use any block from the widget sections of the theme.
