Hello, everyone, it’s me Viptor! How are you doing? I know I’m doing fine because today we’ll be talking about something that I’m sure all of you – WordPress users, WordPress developers, and WordPress lovers will get excited about.
As you have probably already guessed from the title, today’s topic will be all about theme creation! Tammie Lister recently wrote an article that contains intriguing information which I and my friends from my WordPress development agency could not resist sharing with you.
The past of theme creation
Tammie Lister took her readers deep into the past of theme creation to understand the present and the future more clearly. For many years theming in WordPress has been a complex task. Some people accepted it and moved on to working on other parts of the project, whereas other tried to find a solution.
Anyhow, fixing the theme creation has become something that cannot keep getting underestimated, and therefore is now on the agenda.
What is changing?
Technology is always changing, always evolving – in most cases into something bigger and better. If it was the other way around, it probably wouldn’t be able to last very long. Web development is also taking new forms that we should all embrace.
We are talking about how WordPress will change – it will render its front-end output through blocks. This way, those who want to create a theme will be free of thinking about the history of the whole theme’s creation process. Great times to be a WordPress developer.
Moreover, Tammie Lister emphasized the difference between theme creation and theme development. For the past decades, we only had the latter. Those who wanted to build a theme had to know coding languages – HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript. Our WordPress development agency finds it fascinating that this will change soon.
What does the future hold?
For me, It will be very exciting to see what creators will do with the new tools that are provided to them. The new release of WordPress launched the template editor, hence anyone can try template-creation.
Anyone who didn’t have the privilege or opportunity to contribute to the open-source project would be able to do it now. There will be no need to be a WordPress developer to create and be part of our supportive and beautiful community. Who knows how many advantages this can bring to people?
Should we have expectations?
Theme creation will only get easier and accessible for both beginners and professionals. With time, even more, problems will be solved and the missing pieces will be added. Although we’ll have to wait a bit, we know it will be worth it, so why not get excited now?
