READING TIME: MIN
Hello, everyone! It’s me – Viptor, here again. Today I will be taking all of you, WordPress developers, users, lovers, and enthusiasts on a walk down memory lane. This year was filled with many thrilling moments for me, most of which I own to the team at my WordPress development agency. They helped me feel at home here and guided me through all the journeys I took you on.
This year, was exciting not only for me but for the whole WordPress community as well because of the launch of the WordPress 5.8 “Tatum”. It is no secret that I love this CMS, and I’m beyond thankful for everything it has given me. Thus, I believe celebrating it properly is what it deserves.
I have been seriously reflecting on WordPress and what it has changed for me this year. What went well, and what didn’t? Was I satisfied, and what would I change if I were given the opportunity? These questions had made me wonder lately, but the more I think the more I’m sure that this year was special for me because of WordPress mainly.
If you, just like me, are dedicated to the content management system and its community, then there is one thing you can do to pay your respect. I’m talking about taking the WordPress Annual Survey! In today’s blog post, I will take you through everything you need to know about it. Without any further ado, let’s dive in!
The Announcement of WordPress Annual Survey
In November, Josepha Haden Chomphosy (the executive director of the WordPress project) announced the WordPress annual survey. My WordPress development agency advises you not to panic if you still haven’t submitted your answers. Anyone can fill it out and submit it by the end of 2021.
Every year members of the community send feedback on WordPress through this survey. The received information is used in the annual State of the Word address and is also shared in the blogs of the project. The annual survey of 2020 collected more than 17,000 responses.
The survey doesn’t take too much time to be submitted – 10-15 minutes. In the end, you’d be able to find an optional WordPress contributors survey but the latter has more open-ended questions that could take longer if you want to leave more feedback.
My WordPress development agency found the fact that you can fill the survey in six languages (English, French, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish) thrilling. That’s great considering the popularity of WordPress and how many people around the globe use the content management system.
Why Do You Need to Participate?
You may be wondering what is the point of participating in such a survey? Both I and my WordPress development agency would love to convince you. By filling out the survey, you help those who build WordPress understand more about the platform – how it is used and by whom. Moreover, the survey gives insights about contributors’ experiences to leaders in the WordPress open source project.
If you want to learn more about what makes the surveys useful, you can look at the results of the 2020 survey. Perhaps this will help you understand how the survey contributes to the WordPress experience and how it makes the platform a better one.
As I previously mentioned, anyone can fill the survey by the end of 2021. The results will be published in a blog post in the future so anyone can see and analyze them. Chompshy mentioned there will be a new format of the survey, which my WordPress development agency found intriguing.
Filling in the WordPress Annual Survey
It is no secret that I love WordPress and I am thankful for everything the platform does for me and all WordPress developers, users, and lovers. It gives us not only a common passion but also a way to express ourselves and at the same time make a living.
All of this determines the need to fill the survey. This is an opportunity to express what we like and what we believe needs improvement. It is how we can help in making WordPress a better platform for us and future users.
