Not so long ago, them.es released an Emoji Toolbar – a picker that integrates with the WordPress rich-text toolbar. With its help, users would be able to insert emojis directly from the editor interface. If this sounds interesting to you, then we can dive a little deeper.

A short history of the emoji culture

This Emoji toolbar has caught not my interest only, but my WordPress development agency as well. Hence I assume you must find it quite astonishing too. But before we move on to discussing it, I thought – why not talk about the whole emoji culture first? When did it all start, and why?

Now, emojis are an established part of communication in the digital era. In fact, it’s hard to imagine texting online without using emojis.

How does the Emoji Toolbar work?

What does the future hold for emojis?

As I already pointed out, using emojis in the digital era is an essential part of communicating with others. Our WordPress development agency does not have the power to predict the future, yet we believe that with the rapid development of technologies, emojis will only continue to expand their horizons. They add emotions to our texts we are not able to add otherwise.

Some say emojis will become the language of the future. Others denied this and said they can’t express humans’ feelings. Whatever the case, we’ll have to wait to see the real answer.
