Add Premium Photos from within WordPress

READING TIME: MIN

Welcome back to the second and final part of our series on adding gorgeous and appropriate stock images from within WordPress. While we discussed the free “Instant Images” plugin in the previous part, this time we’ll look at a premium, but very economical option: The PixelRockstar plugin and service.

Premium WordPress Photos – PixelRockstar

Germany-based PixelRockstar isn’t free. But hey, 4 million high-resolution stock images and the catalogue that gets them for you right within the comfort of your WordPress editor – well, that’s worth a price. What if we told you that purchasing their largest image pack would set you back by just $ 0.57 a photo?

The photos all come conveniently and safely licensed by PixelRockstar, so copyright issues will never bother you again. Feel free to deploy the images not just on your website, but your social media as well. They let you download images at resolutions going all the way to 2,000 pixels, and the images are usable indefinitely without any expiry date on the licenses. The folks at PixelRockstar even go so far as to legally ensure each image they provide for up to $10,000.

Here’s how you can get going on PixelRockstar:

Go to the PixelRockstar website and buy yourself a pack of photos or a plan of your choice. This will get you an API key.

  • Search for the PixelRockstar plugin from within the WordPress Dashboard, and install it.
  • The API key which can be found in your PixelRockstar account settings, and is also sent to your email, can then be added here. For the up-to-date installation process, you can always access the PixelRockstar Installation page.
  • Please take this opportunity to also specify the image size you prefer and the alignment you’d like by default. The “Advanced” tab also lets you change the fine-grained options such as a number of search results, default caption and mouse-over texts.
  • You’re all set. You’ll now get the “Add Stock Photo” option in all posts, just like with “Instant images”.
  • Click the button, then enter the keyword to find the image you need. If you need a different size from the one you specified by default, select that as well from the dropdown menu, and if you need it to become the new default, click that checkbox as well. Enable “Add as a Featured Image”, then click “Download”.

Unlike “Instant Images”, however, this step immediately takes you to image details, and the photo can then be directly inserted into the post. No more having to ‘Add Media’ after all this, like with “Instant Images”. Right here, in this step, you can change the title, the ALT text, and PixelRockstar even automatically names the downloaded files with the search keyword, which is great for SEO.
So now, with fewer clicks and way more convenient, you have the high-quality stock image of your choice in your post.

Conclusion

Note, again, that just like with “Instant Images”, any and all plugins for image optimization will still optimize your images automatically because of the way they do it just as images are uploaded to image library. While premium, PixelRockstar is still ridiculously affordable, and if you have the budget for it, it’s well worth every penny you invest in it.

Whether you end up choosing the “Instant Images” plugin or PixelRockstar, you can see the advantages of either method over manually finding and adding stock photos. You can create content and edit conveniently, never needing to disrupt your WordPress writing workflow, effortlessly finding and adding images as and when you think of them.

The images you find are not just gorgeous and high-fidelity, they are licensed and protected from any copyright disputes, adding peace of mind to the list of newfound joys in your WordPress content process. Isn’t that a world you’d like to live in?
